The member preview for the exhibition Lethal Beauty: Samurai Weapons and Armor at the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) took place on the 27th of September 2013.

Art lovers mingled in a filled entrance of the museum enjoying sushi, mochi and sake in traditional Japanese fashion. Museum member Dr. Grimes even dressed as a samurai as he mingled with guests, taking pictures and enjoying the exhibition curated by Dr. Andreas Marks, of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Collection of the Clark Center.

The exhibition includes work from the Japanese Edo Period, 13th and 18th centuries in addition to a work by an unknown artist from the Kano school to name a few. Lethal Beauty: Samurai Weapons and Armor is open to general public until the 5th January 2013 and I highly recommend it as you travel through time in this exhibition to understand Japanese art and culture.

The SAMA  art  tour is organized by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC. Lethal Beauty in San Antonio is supplemented by works from the collection of Dr. Robert R. Clemons and others.
